Vendor Assessment
In an effort to reduce the risks to which the university population is exposed, the Office of Risk Management and Insurance completed comprehensive risk assessments of campus activities. We looked at the high-risk carnival-style vendors that frequently provide entertainment services to student organizations and high-risk motor carrier vendors that provide charter bus services. Such venues could present a significant liability risk to the university if not subjected to proper risk treatment.
The Office of Risk Management and Insurance established requirements aimed at reducing the liability risk associated with these venues. As part of this risk treatment, we contacted frequently utilized vendors and requested verification of established maintenance, training, certification, and repair practices. We also requested verification of General Liability, Automobile Liability and Workers Compensation insurance. From this, we established approved vendors for each category. As appropriate, new vendors will be reviewed and added to the list once all qualifications are met.
